It also contains yeast. Live Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei and Enterococcus faecium all ferment lactose into lactic acid. Inulin provides support for the growth of the direct-fed microbials. As direct fed microbials, they promote breakdown and assimilation of nutrients while helping to maintain proper gut flora.
