Probios Oral Boluses for Ruminants™ are a stabilized source of lactic acid bacteria. Stress can have negative effects on animals' digestive processes, and these boluses should be given to any ruminant, including beef and dairy cows, goats, and sheep before, during, and after times of stress, such as ration change, birth, weaning, shipping, weather changes, and also antibiotic treatment.
Probios for Ruminants contains four species of live naturally occurring lactic acid bacteria because it takes more than one direct fed microbial to provide all of the desired health benefits. This formula includes Enterococcus faecium and three species of Lactobacillus (plantarum, casei, and acidophilus). These unique strains work together to maintain the proper amount of gut flora in the digestive tract, so that it is sufficient to support bowel health and proper digestion.
Live Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus acidophilus all ferment lactose into lactic acid. Enterococcus faecium promotes intestinal health, and Lactobacillus acidophilus works to improve gut absorption and maintain proper gut flora. It is also effective in helping to prevent yeast infections in the upper digestive tract, and is especially effective against those caused by Candida albicans. Lactobacillus casei complements the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus and assists in propagation of healthy bacteria, while Lactobacillus plantarum is necessary for the production of lactic acid.
