Bene-Bac Pet Gel is a concentrated formula of live cultures of seven common bacteria, including three species of Lactobacillus: acidophilus, casei, and plantarum. Lactobacillus acidophilus works to maintain proper gut flora and optimizes nutrient absorption. Lactobacillus casei provides the enzymes that are necessary for healthy digestion, and Lactobacillus plantarum assists in the breakdown and assimilation of nutrients. This supplement also includes Enterococcus faecium, which improves gut absorption. Other ingredients are Pediococcus acidilactici, which is a specific strain of lactic acid-producing bacteria, used to keep the proper balance of micro flora in the digestive system and Bifidobacterium bifidum, a probiotic microorganism that lives primarily in the mucus membrane lining of the colon. This microorganism prevents the colonization of pathogenic bacteria by attaching itself to the intestinal wall, where it crowds out and takes nutrients from unhealthy yeasts and bacteria.
