Biotene Veterinarian Maintenance Oral Gel helps to soothe and protect your pet’s oral tissue against irritation and inflammation caused by infection, and it also effectively removes plaque and harmful odor-causing bacteria. It is the original brushless toothpaste for pets. This oral gel has been shown to be highly effective and also safe and easy-to-apply for daily use in the maintenance of your pet's oral hygiene.

Biotene Veterinarian Maintenance Oral Gel contains Lactoperoxidase, an enzyme that functions as a natural antibacterial agent and is often used for treatment of paradentosis and gingivitis.The gel also contains Lysozyme, which is a naturally-occurring enzyme, found in egg whites, that acts as a mild antiseptic by destroying the cell walls of some bacteria. It is used as both a mouth rinse and a toothpaste to help reduce oral bacteria, by fighting against the acid produced by that bacteria. Lactoferrinan is included as an iron-binding protein that works against antimicrobial activity by withholding iron from fungi and bacteria that collect in the mouth. Biotene Oral Gel also contains Glucose Oxidase, which oxidizes glucose to gluconic acid and results in the formation of hydrogen peroxide. It is used to remove traces of glucose, or sugar, from food.

This product works effectively with no antibiotics, alcohol, or chlorhexidine, which is often used in oral rinses but can cause an increase in teeth stains.

Directions: Apply a 1/2” strip to upper and lower gums daily. Best if used in the morning, at night and after meals. For optimal oral health, use in conjunction with Biotene Veterinarian Therapeutic Mouth Wash and Biotene Drinking Water Additive.
