PetsPrefer Digestion Support tablets are highly palatable and may be crushed and added to regular food or presented as a treat. They should be fed daily to help improve nutrient absorption in the gut and support proper digestion by maintaining the proper amount of healthy flora in the intestines.

The vitamins and minerals in Digestion Support for Dogs are added as a supplement to the complete nutrition of your dog. It supplies a scientifically balanced formula of essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. The proper amounts of calcium for your dog is very important. When he is young, the bones undergo continuous change, and are constantly absorbing and depositing calcium into new bone. As dogs get older, bone breakdown exceeds formation, and can result in bone loss if the proper levels are not maintained. Linoleic acid is one of two essential fatty acids, and must be ingested by your dog for good health, it cannot be created out of other food components and is required for many biological processes. Ginger works to stimulate digestion by speeding up the movement of food from the stomach into the upper small intestine, and chamomile's anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic actions help to relax the muscles lining the stomach and intestine.

Digestion Support is a source of four species of live, naturally occurring lactic acid bacteria because one microbial alone does not provide all of the desired health benefits. There are three species of Lactobacillus (acidophilus, casei, and plantarum) and Enterococcus faecium. Lactobacillus acidophilus helps by improving gut absorption and maintaining proper gut flora. It also works to prevent yeast infections in the upper digestive tract, especially those caused by Candida albicans. Lactobacillus casei complements the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus and also helps to propagate desirable bacteria. Lactobacillus plantarum is included because of its necessary role in the production of lactic acid. Enterococcus faecium promotes general intestinal well being, and all four bacteria ferment lactose into lactic acid.

Feeding Recommendations:

Puppies and dogs under 20 lbs give ½ tablet daily.
Dogs over 20 lbs give 1 tablet daily.

I was happy to find Digestion Support because not only does it help my Golden's digestion, but it also provides other vitamins and minerals. Before, I was feeding her 2 supplements a day. Not only does Digestion Support work, but it combines everything she needs to be healthy, and she eats them as a treat. It's so much easier, and also cheaper than the 2 products I was using before.
