Duralactin® Equine if formulated with MicroLactin®, a patented dried milk protein, that comes from the milk of hyper-immunized cows. Hyper-immunized means that the cows have large quantities of a particular antibody. Cytokines, substances that are produced during allergic and other inflammatory reactions, modify the functions of cells, amplifying the inflammation. MicroLactin® contains factors that appear to block these substances. Because the inflammation is reduced, so is the white blood cell participation in the inflammatory response. This helps prevent tissue damage that can be caused by excess neutrophil accumulation. Neutrophils are the most abundant kind of white blood cells in mammals, and they form an essential part of the immune system that is found in tissues.
