House with a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary was created in 2006 to provide loving homes to dogs at risk of entering shelter situations or being euthanized because of their age. The Sanctuary, located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is currently home to around 30 senior dogs and 4 senior cats. Each senior enters the sanctuary with a unique set of circumstances and food and medical expenses are commonly greater for senior dogs as many require distinctive diets and more regular medical attention.
Unlike many other rescue organizations, HWAH doesn’t seek adoption for their residents, once an animal enters the sanctuary; they stay for the duration of their lives and never have to lose a home again. HWAH relies on donations, dog-boarding fees and the help of an all-volunteer staff to cover expenses and provide daily care to the residents.
Joint pain is a common ailment for senior dogs and can cause a great deal of pain and discomfort. This month you can help ease the pain of the senior dogs living at House With a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary with a donation towards a bottle of PSCPets Joint Support Soft Chews.
