“I can’t physically protect my son, and all the
other sons and daughters in Iraq. But I can help the dogs who do. These dedicated dogs do this service selflessly and with great courage. Whatever we can do to help them do their job easier is helping to protect our sons and daughters.”

~ Starline Nunley
Mother of a war veteran and founder of the Support Military Working Dogs project

Our founder, Starline Nunley, started with the idea of helping her son, Major Parker Frawley (who is now a Lt. Colonel), who was a Longbow, Apache helicopter fighter pilot stationed in Iraq in 2008. She asked him if he would like a Cooling Vest to help him cope with the typically very hot temperatures encountered there. His reply was “Mom, we (the soldiers) are all right. The military provides for us very well, but the dogs have different needs. It is so hot that they are having trouble doing their job and that puts us all in danger.”

Temperatures sometimes reach as high as 140 degrees. The dogs cannot work for more than an hour to an hour-and-a-half before being completely exhausted. Our troops are provided with proper equipment but the dogs are our first line of defense in many situations. They’ve been forgotten and have no protection against the heat, blowing sands and rough terrain.

After learning how the extreme heat and conditions were affecting the Military Working Dogs (MWDs) deployed with our soldiers into Iraq, Starline set out to see how she could help them. Her research into how to help keep her son cool had already led her to the perfect cooling vest for the dogs. Additional research led her to the equipment that helps protect the dogs and enable them to do their jobs longer and more proficiently.

Another issue our Military Working Dogs face is joint pain as their work is extremelly physically demanding; handlers are often asking for help for their dogs in this regard. PSCPets.com is joining up with Support Military Working Dogs this month of July, the month we celebrate America's independance, to help provide joint support to the dogs who keep us and our soldiers safe. All donations of $5 will go towards the purchase of a bottle of PSCPets Joint Support which retails for $26.99.
