PSCPets.com Rescue Outreach Program - helping a good PAWS!
June's 2012's Featured Organization is PAWS - Pamlico Animal Welfare Society

The Pamlico Animal Welfare Society, aka PAWS, located in Oriental, NC, is dedicated to providing affordable spay and neuter services as the primary way of decreasing pet overpopulation and controlling the number of unwanted, neglected and abandoned pets in Pamlico County and surrounding areas.
PAWS is a North Carolina 501(3)(c) non-profit organization striving to provide a better life for local animals. While their primary mission is assisting with the cost of spaying and neutering to reduce the number of animals euthanized in shelters, they are also dedicated to “Helping the Helpless” by educating the community about humane and responsible pet ownership, helping needy pets by providing dog and cat food from our Pet Pantry, giving money toward veterinary care, and helping find good homes for animals needing adoption. PAWS relies solely on our fundraising activities and tax-deductible contributions from animal lovers around the world.

PAWS works with the community!
This month, PAWS will begin it's New Leash On Life program. Dogs will be selected from the Craven County animal shelter to be leash-trained with basic obediance skills (come, sit, stay, down) by local prison inmates who will learn valuable skills and become employable upon their release. It’s a win-win-win combination: Employable people making a new start, trained dogs and lucky new pet parents. Upon graduation, these pets will be offered for adoption where excellent pet parents will be sought for these excellent pets
PAWS success!
We’ve spayed/neutered hundreds of pets preventing the unwanted births of thousands. Last year alone we spayed/neutered 216 pets, fed 70 needy animals from our Pet Pantry, found good homes for almost 50 cats and dogs, answered over 500 requests for information/assistance, and worked at the pet shelter set up for Hurricane Irene victims. With the help of generous donations, we can continue to assist animals in need.
