Prozyme Original Formula supports normal digestion by supplying enzymes that helps your pet's body break down protein, starch, fat, and fiber. Healthy digestion is a part of the foundation for overall good health, and this supplement contains four highly purified, plant-derived enzymes that play an important role in the digestion process.

Prozyme is formulated to release nutrients in the small intestine, where metabolic absorption takes place, and it doesn't contain any added vitamins or minerals that might create a risk of excessive vitamin supplementation or upset the balance of your current pet food nutrition. It is a proprietary blend of enzymes that contains sources of alpha-amylase, Bromelain, cellulase, and lipase. Alpha-amylase is naturally found in saliva and is also secreted by the pancreas. It begins the process of starch digestion by breaking starch chains into smaller pieces with two or three glucose units. Individual glucose units are then delivered by the blood to hungry cells throughout your pet's body. Bromelain extract is a mixture of protein-digesting enzymes, and cellulase is an important addition because it breaks down cellulose, the organic compound that is the main structural material of plants, into beta-glucose, which is utilized as an energy source by red blood cells. Lipase is primarily produced in the pancreas of animals and is an enzyme that their bodies use to break down the fats in their diets so that they can be absorbed in the intestines.

Prozyme is formulated to be used as a food supplement to help enhance nutritional efficiency of food.
