Prozyme Plus supplies enzymes that support normal digestion by helping your pet's body break down fat, fiber, protein, and starch. This supplement contains four plant-derived, highly purified enzymes that play an important role in the digestion process, which is a part of the foundation for overall good health.
Prozyme is formulated to release nutrients where metabolic absorption takes place, in the small intestine, It also does not contain any added minerals or vitamins that might upset the balance of your current pet food nutrition or could create a risk of excessive vitamin supplementation. It is a proprietary blend of enzymes containing sources of lipase, cellulase, Bromelain, and alpha-amylase. Lipase is mainly produced in the pancreas and is an enzyme, used by animals' bodies to break down fats in their diets so that they can be absorbed in the intestines. Cellulase is an important ingredient because it is used to break down cellulose, an organic compound that is the main structural material of plants, into beta-glucose, which is then used by red blood cells as an energy source. Bromelain extract is a mixture of protein-digesting enzymes, while Alpha-amylase is secreted by the pancreas and is also naturally found in saliva. It is a part of the first step in the process of starch digestion, and works by breaking starch chains into smaller pieces with two or three glucose units, which are then delivered by the blood to hungry cells throughout your pet's body.
Prozyme is formulated to be used as a food supplement and to help enhance nutritional efficiency of food. It can help relieve many common problems, including gas, bloating, and weight issues, along with other issues that are not always obviously caused by a lack of nutrient absorption, such as excessive shedding, a dull coat, and dry or scaly skin. This easy-to-feed supplement is also highly palatable and can be especially helpful for older pets who do not produce adequate amounts of digestive enzymes on their own. Also, Prozyme is safe to use with prescribed medications, as it will not be absorbed into the blood stream.
Prozyme Plus is safe for use on animals that are on vegan diets or are lactose intolerant.

Helped with loose stool
Our adult ridgeback hound has been taking Prozyme Plus with each meal for the past year and half. It seems to have significantly reduce his gas and loose stool. Our new 12 week old puppy had chronic loose stool. I thought we needed to de-worm him, but we started giving him Prozyme Plus -- the very next stool was normal. We've been giving prozyme plus with each meal since with minimal stool issues.
Prozyme Plus is an outstanding product
Bought Prozyme Plus to mix with my dog's food. My dog has a gluten allergy and he has digestive problems. Prozyme Plus has
allowed my dog to get the necessary nutrients from his food and has
helped prevent his bouts with diarrhea. Great product!
Just a tiny bit does the trick...
I purchased this product to help my 25 # dog's digestion process. He suffers from allergies so I liked the idea of the "lactose free."
The directions on the container are based on the amount of food the dog actually eats rather than the dog's weight. Since Jak eats two 1/3 cup servings of homemade food a day, I began by adding a little less than 1/8 tsp of the Prozyme Plus to each of his two meals.
I have noticed that this product does very well at it's purpose. It helps the dog to get all of the nutrients from the food. However, I have learned that some extremely high, nutrient rich foods may do better without this additive. For example, I give Jak about 2 oz of liver a week. This product didn't work well with the liver dinner. So, on liver day, I don't add the Prozyme Plus.
Our 7 year adopted cat couldn't seem to digest any cat food. After adding 1/4 tsp. of Prosyme to her daily 2 tablespoons of cat tuna, she no longer vomits up everything. It's wonderful no longer having a bulimic cat.
Shinier coat with less shedding
We feed our dogs a raw diet, and I was so excited to find this product. I wanted to include some digestive enzymes, but I was worried about the lactose in many of the other supplements I looked into, because one of our dogs is lactose intolerant, which we found out the hard way after giving her yogurt with her chicken for a few weeks. Prozyme is a great product. We have definitely seen benefits, like shinier coats and less shedding, since we started. Thank you!
