PSCPets Daily Enzymes with Prebiotics contains Amylase, which is a digestive enzyme that changes complex sugars, also known as starches, into simple sugars during the digestive process. It is mostly found in saliva and pancreatic juice, where it is used to breakdown starches into smaller units and aids in the digestion of carbohydrates.
Alpha-amylase helps to reduce the amount of dietary carbohydrates that are metabolized to fat, which may also aid in weight management.
This product also contains lipase, an enzyme that is a catalyst for the formation of lipids. These enzymes play an essential role in the digestion, transportation, and processing of dietary lipids, such as oils and other fats. They are involved in many different biological processes, including inflammation and cell signaling.
This concentrated supplement also includes prebiotics in the form of inulin, which is a non-digestible foos that moves through the digestive system and works to keep the beneficial bacteria in the intestines healthy while promoting their growth.
PSCPets Daily Enzymes with Prebiotics also contains several ingredients to support overall health and wellness in your pet, such as calcium carbonate. Calcium is necessary for healthy muscles and bones. It also helps to ensure the proper function of nerves. Pets of all ages benefit from obtaining the proper amounts of calcium. Puppies and kittens use this mineral as their bones develop, and it is beneficial for adult animals as a preventative measure against the bone loss that occurs naturally with age. As animals get older, bone breakdown can exceed formation and result in bone loss if their diet is low in calcium. There needs to be enough calcium available in the blood to be returned to the bones in order to maintain their strength.
Ginger, who has been used to treat digestive issues for centuries, is also included in this formula. Ginger has anti-spasm properties, which can assist in calming upset stomachs and may also provide relief for gas, bloating, and diarrhea. This root promotes mucus secretion, which helps to protect against ulcers. It also contains enzymes that are responsible for catalyzing the proteins in food. Ginger has been shown to exhibit anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.
The daily use of prebiotics and probiotics can help to effectively restore the balance of healthy bacteria in your pet's digestive tract. Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that are found in various foods and supplements. Because of the synergistic way in which they work together, it is highly recommended to feed Daily Enzymes with Prebiotics along with IntelliFlora, which is an effective daily probiotic for both cats and dogs.

Helped our Fella
Fella, our 14+ year old Cocker Spaniel, had excessive flatulence. Poor boy, he could clear a room! His diet had not changed, and he was examined by our Vet. An Associate at PSC helped us pick the right product to eliminate this problem.
I am very happy to report, Fella is once more welcome to join the family on the couch!
I received this product as a sample included with the probiotics i was already buying here. I had been using the probiotics a few months, when I tried this, I give one scoop of probiotics in am and pm added this and amazingly, this is the first time in her life of 3 years, when her poopy wasn't soft, finally it is firm and easy to pick up from grass? I am sure by that, she is digesting better. I am sold!
This is not a product that you don't need to wait a month or even a week to see results. I often combine in with PSCpets Intelliflora for maximum effectiveness. All my pets love this powder. One of my dogs was starving when we adopted him. Only corn showed up in his stomach x-ray. It really did a number on his digestive tract.
That's where PSCpets powders come in. I've tried other brands (Eagle Pack and Purina) and there is no comparison. PSCpets brands are life savers and I am a customer for life.
Quick results! Amazing
My cats and dogs LOVE the powder formula. I usually use it combined with the PSCpets Intelliflora for my dog with digestive issues. (Intelliflora works great on its own, but sometimes Thunder needs a little extra something.) One morning his stomach was making some crazy noises, and he seemed lethargic. I gave him the Daily enzymes and Prebiotics, and soon the noises stopped and he was back to normal.
Any stool problems are quickly solved with the intelliflora, but even quicker with both products. I literally don't know what we we do without them. Thunder actually waits to eat his food until we add the powder!
regulating digestion/absorption improves senior dogs lives
I am a hospice nurse for dogs and I have used both the digestive enzymes/prebiotics along with the Intelliflora for my patients. It is not unusual that the owners of older dogs and especially those that are terminally ill spoil their pets with the wrong foods. In some cases I am able to assess the diet and correct it according to the disease process. By adding the pre & probiotics I can help with the absorption of the new diet for energy and clear up any negative GI bacteria caused from poor diet and certainly medications such as antibiotic therapies. The first patient I used these particular PSC products on , I saw an improvement in 12-24 hours of stool quality and mentation. This dog was on a horrendous diet and certainly the change of food was the major factor but I believe these products helped to speed up the healing process considerably. In another case the Vet said the dog was lethargic due to malabsorption of nutrients. A day on digestive enzymes and prebiotics cured that problem and focused the attention on her real disease which was degenerative arthritis. For anyone considering adding these products I suggest you firat assess your pet's diet with your Veterinarian and discuss the use of these products.
HELP FOR HOSPICE DOGS
As a veterinary hospice nurse I have already written a review on the use of pro-biotics. The information in that review is the same for the PSCPETS digestive enzymes and prebiotics. I typically use the pre- and pro-biotics in conjunction with each other. Often older dogs, especially those who are ill and being medicated for that illness, have trouble utilizing the nutrients they should be receiving from their food. This can be caused by Leaky Gut Syndrome or simply the aging process. According to Susan Lauten, Ph.D. in, YOUR DOG'S GOLDEN YEARS, changes in food digestion, nutrient metabolism and storage as well as excretion of waste all need to be factored into senior dog nutrition. This is where the enzymes and pre-biotics can help. Again they will not cure the disease (aging is not a disease) but they may aid in absorption which in turn may lead to more vitality, alertness and better quality of life. (consult your veterinarian before making any changes to your pets diet).
Seems to be aiding my elderly cat with his digestive problems. He was 8 years old when I rescued him from a no kill shelter 4 years ago. Apparently they overlooked his teeth. After his first week with me the Vet performed dental surgery, he has few teeth left, so chewing is not to great. I believe the enzymes are breaking down the food for better digestion for this senior cat whose coat is improving as well as his general wellbeing.
My picky shih tzu loves these products and they seem to be helping his sensitive stomach!
Digestive enzymes for a special case
I have used digestive enzymes in my practice as a veterinary home hospice care nurse. I am a certified technician and believe that all of my senior patients benefit from the enzymes. Most recently my senior dog has issues with rectal diverticulum and a hernia. Balancing his diet in order to aid in his evacuation has been a diificult task but the enzymes have definitely helped. With the addition of pumpkin for fiber of I have been able to relieve the constipation.
