Tips for camping with dogs
Hi, we're taking our dog camping with us for the first time, now that it isn't so hot out. Has anyone who's done this before have any advice? I just don't want it to be too stressful for any of us.

Make sure you treat him for ticks and fleas, and bring enough water. We always get sample bags of food from the store we buy from to take with us so that we don't have to bring a huge container. It makes feeding a lot easier.

How much water should you bring for a day?

I'm assuming that he will stick around without a leash or anything during the day, but make sure you have a place for him to sleep or bring something to tie him up with at night.

We make our dog sleep outside the tent now. We've tried to have him sleep with us, but he's way too restless. Too many new smells and sounds.
I would never let our dog outside by himself. What if an animal came into your camp? You never know what might happen.

Remember to bring poo bags!

Especially if you're going to a campground or hiking trails. I hate it when people leave it right in the middle of the path. Rude!

That is just an estimate. Depending on the temp and how much excercise they get, they may need more than what's listed.

I have an electric collar for my dog. I can hit a warning button if she goes too far, but most importantly, it works for up to 3 miles.
