I just got a dog from the shelter, and I'm wondering how often I should get her nails trimmed. I really don't want to do it on my own because I'm afraid I'll cut them too short.

If her nails are long, about every 2 weeks so that the quick (the part that bleeds) can get pushed back.

I just get them cut every time I take him to the vet or groomer. He goes to the groomer about once every 6 weeks.
