I work for ProbiotiSmart and have learned alot from working here and having pets, which I am happy to share with others! I have a 2 year old schoondle, Winston, that has a cronic ear infection. My vet says that is just something that we will have to deal with constantly as every time we treat it, the infection will always come back. The vet told me that one thing that is super important is to clean out the hair in Winston's ears so that there is less surface area for infections to attach to as well as it will help keep his ears dryer. I have to pull the hair out of Winston's ear's two every weeks as it grows faster than one would expect. I just use a tweezer and make sure to not go into the canal. (I don't know how you would do it any other way) Then, I follow up with an ear cleaner. I love the PSCPets.com Ear Cleaner, as it helps make the removal of the excess "gunk" easy with a cotton ball. Then, I use the Vetericyn VF Otic Rinse as that is designed to help fight infections. So far so good, as I can tell since the ears smell good and not as stinky!

I use diluted tea tree oil on a cotton ball. It's anti-bacterial and fungal. I also use it to wipe off the pads of her feet.

I would recommend a regular cleaner from a groomer or pet store. They have some that are for dogs with sensitive ears.

Organic apple cider vinegar works well. It helps balance the ph levels in the skin of the ear. If there are open sores or abrasions, you'll want to dilute the vinegar so that it doesn't sting. I also use Solid Gold ear cleaner. It has comfrey in it, and it has worked wonders on my dog, Paisley. She was getting chronic ear infections, and the vet tols me that I should try something over the counter before they took a sample and sent it to a lab beecause it would be so expensive. It took a while, but the ear cleaner and vinegar totally worked and saved me a ot of money.
