What are good treats for dogs on a diet?
Our vet just put my dog Juicy on a diet. I know it's for her health, but I feel so bad for her. She hates the treats my vet recommended. Can anyone suggest something she might like?

if she doesn't like biscuits, maybe something high in protein and low in fat, like freeze dried meat or jerky treats would be better.

Those are great ideas! Freeze dried chicken is usually a winner. You can even make it at home! Here's a blog post that has an easy recipe, even though they take awhile to cook: http://mymansbelly.com/2011/07/27/healthy-homemade-chicken-dog-treats/

Marie, what kind of treats did your pet recommend? If you're not interested in making your own treats, we do sell some freeze dried food toppers on our website. The Charlee Bear treats are also really tasty and are only 3 calories a treat. Good luck!

You could try giving her fruit or vegetables. A lot of dogs like apples.

Just give her meat, like chicken or lean beef. She'll love it, and it's easy because that's what we eat. Or maybe yogurt or yougurt snacks.

Solid Gold makes all natural treats that are low in fat. They have a bunch of biscuits in different sizes, and some of them are good for dogs' teeth.

I give my dogs Solid Gold treats. They love the Garlic Bagels.

You could try something like Probios Soft Chews... they are pretty yummy and are a probiotic which is amazing for intestinal health and can help with pet weight management. They are suggested to be used on a daily basis, so that might work well in terms of treats ;) Good luck!

What about things like rawhides or bones? Those are probably low in fat.

Rawhides are not good for your dog's stomach. They don't digest and can cause a lot of problems.
